Welcome to Junior Green Thumbs: Nurturing Young Gardeners in Lawrence County
At Junior Green Thumbs, we’re passionate about fostering a love for horticulture in the youth of our county. Hosted by the Lawrence County Master Gardeners Association, our youth gardening club offers monthly hands-on sessions that explore everything from planting and watering to composting and weeding. Our dedicated team of experienced gardeners and educators creates a safe and engaging environment for children to develop skills, connect with their community, and gain a deep appreciation for the environment. Planting a Garden
Topics: Planting Techniques, Varieties, Plant Care, Importance of Pollination.
Projects: Planting the Garden, Sowing Seeds, Starting a Pollinator Garden
Class Overview: In this class we will cover the basics of planting a garden. We will get to play in the dirt a bit, sowing seeds and plants. We will also start our own pollination garden. This first class back will be bigger than normal. We may not finish till closer to 1pm. Snacks will be provided though!

Garden Pests and Maintenance
Topics: Bugs and pests, Gardening Maintenance.
Potential Projects: Build a Bug
Class Overview: Explore the world of bugs in the garden. We wil do a scavenger hunt, learn about relationships of bugs and plants, and dive into some garden maintenance.
